IoE TU, Nepal and SoA NPU sign Agreement on Cooperation in Student Exchange

Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal (IoE TU) represented by itsDean of Institute of Engineering at TU, Prof. Ram Chandra Sapkota; andSchool of Aeronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University (SoA NPU) represented by itsDean of School of Aerospace Engineering at NPU, Prof.Zichen Deng sign an agreement on Cooperation in Student Exchange on September 27, 2019.

Theagreement supportsstudent communication and exchange. Each year IoE TU will recommend 2-5 outstanding students (ranked as top15%) studying in the “Aerospace Engineering” domain. Once they are proved to be qualified and accepted by SoA NPU, these students can come toSoA NPU to complete their thesis study and research work for a period of about 6 months.

About IOE TU:

Tribhuvan University (TU), which was established in 1959, is the first national institution of higher education in Nepal. The Central Administrative Office and the Central Campus of the university are located on the north eastern facade of Kirtipur, an ancient and small town located five kilometers away from Kathmandu city centre. There are 39 central departments and 4 research centres in TU, and out of them 31 departments and 3 research centres are located at Kirtipur. The university at Kirtipur is spread over an area of 154.77 hectares.

After the second democratic movement of 2006, the Prime Minister of Nepal is the ceremonial chief, the Chancellor of the University, whereas the Minister of Education is the Pro-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the university. He is assisted by the Rector in academic programmes and the Registrar in financial management and general administration.

Tribhuvan University is a non-profit making autonomous institution funded by the Government of Nepal. On January 8, 2013, the government of Nepal has principally agreed to declare Tribhuvan University as the Central University.

Institute of Engineering (IOE) is one of the top and oldest technical Institute of Nepal and was founded in 1930. It is located in Pulchowk Lalitpur. After the introduction of New Education System Plan in 1972 in the country, Institute of Engineering (IOE) was formed under Tribhuvan University and both the Nepal Engineering Institute and Technical Training Institute were brought under Institute of Engineering.

Institute of engineering begin bachelor courses in engineering from 1978, master courses from 1996, doctoral program from 2003 and Post-doctoral program from 2018. By now, Bachelor’s, Master’s, doctoral programs are run in Pulchowk campus, Pulchowk. From the year 2018, Bachelor’s programme in Aerospace Engineering is started at Pulchowk Campus. Master’s and Bachelor’s courses are run in the Thapathali campus, Purwanchal campus and Paschimanchal campus. IOE is now delivering its services from four constituent campuses and ten affiliated colleges.
