报告题目:Compact 6th- and 8th-order Gas Kinetic Schemes with Spectral Resolution for Compressible Flow Computations

报告摘要:

In this talk, a class of compact high-order gas-kinetic scheme (GKS) will be presented. Based on both cell averaged values and their slopes, a compact reconstruction can be developed, such as the explicit 6thand 8th-order reconstruction schemes with spectral-like resolution. In the high-order GKS, discontinuous solutions can be captured very well through the 6thand 8th-order WENO-Z-type nonlinear reconstruction. The time evolution of the compact high-order GKS is based on the multi-stage multi-derivative method. At the same time, the dynamic model in GKS unifies the nonlinear and linear reconstructions in a single time accurate flux function, which gives great advantages in capturing both discontinuous shock waves and the linear aero-acoustic wave propagation. Compared with Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method, the current compact GKS is much more robust in capturing discontinuous solutions and adopts a much larger CFL number for the numerical time step. At the same time, the NS equations can be directly solved in the current scheme. The current scheme presents a state-of-art high-order numerical solutions under all flow conditions, including strong shock discontinuity, shear instability, aero-acoustic wave propagation, and accurate NS solutions.

报告人简介:

徐昆教授是香港科技大学数学系、机械航空工程系首席教授,同时担任北京大学工学院长江学者讲座教授(2008-至今)、西北工业大学航空学院讲座教授(2018-至今)。他1987年本科毕业于北京大学地球物理系天体物理专业,1993年博士毕业于哥伦比亚大学天文系。同年赴美国普林斯顿大学机械与航空系做博士后研究;1996年任职于香港科技大学数学系,2004年担任教授职位。主要从事气体动理学相关数值模拟方法的研究,研究领域包括稀薄气体流动、高超声速流动、跨流域多尺度复杂流动等,在连续稀薄全流域统一算法以及高精度数值格式等方面的研究处于世界领先地位。其构造的统一气体动理论格式解决了全流域多尺度流动数值模拟问题,提出了CFD直接建模新思想,得到了稀薄气体理论方法研究大师G.A. Bird的高度评价。相关研究成果主要发表在Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Journal of Computational Physics等国际著名期刊上,发表学术论文近200篇论文(谷歌学术统计引用4900余次、H指数37,WOS核心期刊统计引用2400余次),发表计算流体力学相关专著两部。担任Advances in Aerodynamics主编,International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics,Communications in Computational Physics,Computers and Fluids等期刊的副主编。
